For the beginners to K-pop, here are three of the popular groups from different labels in K-pop today and what makes them so special.
BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan, or Bulletproof Boy Scouts in English. BTS first debuted in 2013 and are a group under BigHit Entertainment. The seven-member group is taking the world by storm, winning a Billboard Music Award and performing at the American Music Awards in 2017. They are set to perform at the 2018 Billboard awards.

Another group that is popular today is EXO.
EXO debuted in 2012 with 12 members under SM Entertainment. As of today, the group only has 9 members. They are known as one of the major powerhouses in K-pop and have released many different styles of music from hip-hop to electronic.
My EXO music recommendation is: Overdose
Lastly, a girl group that has been gaining popularity is Blackpink.
Blackpink debuted in 2016 under YG Entertainment. The girl group only has 5 songs as of now but are dominating the entertainment industry. The four-member girl group is the first female K-pop act to have 3 number-one hits on the Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart.

As an avid listener of K-pop, I know it is very easy to get lost in the realms of YouTube by watching music video after music video. Even though this article only explores three Kpop groups that are popular now, there are so many more groups and artists that are big in the industry, or were big before they disbanded. Some of the more popular artists include: 2NE1, SHINee, SNSD(Girls’ Generation), Big Bang, PSY, Velvet, NCT, Seventeen, Twice, Wanna One, IU, Super Junior, Hyuna, Monsta X, BoA, and Mamamoo.
